Honay Hill in Dursztyn is a mesmerizing place. A full panorama of the Slovak Tatras in the distance, an open perspective of the meandering Spišské hills, the lack of any buildings at the front and the southern exposure are the advantages of the plot on which the house was to be erected. From the beginning we have set ourselves the goal of building an ecological, prefabricated facility that will meet the sometimes extreme weather conditions on Honay. We decided that we want to blend in with the landscape, give the body a bit of lightness, translucency, let the wooden facade and roof live their own life. For the house to be noticeable, but not dominant in this unique environment. After several analyzes of the available systems for prefabricated wooden houses, we decided to use the STEICO system, which is characterized by high structural stability, very good insulation in winter and a cooling effect during hot summer. The structure was complemented by wood wool insulation, sheathing of eco-friendly MFP boards and cladding made of NOVATOP spruce composite panels. The STRONG-TIE hardware system is responsible for the connection technology for prefabricated solutions. The tightness of the joinery was ensured by three-layered wooden windows of the Sokółka company. The house is covered with traditional shingles and wrapped with an vertical "second skin". We finished all wooden surfaces with Flugger oils. The living space is the ground floor with a spacious mezzanine, corner kitchen and a comfy bathroom. The cottage consists of 14 prefabricated walls, three floor slab modules and twelve roof panels. All modules were made in a local workshop and then assembled on site using a small crane in a few days. HONAY HOUSE is for us a prototype prefabricated system that can be used for mountain residential cabins, small hotels or single-family houses. If you would like to see what it is like to live on HONAY, book your stay in our cottage through the AIRBNB portal. We invite you to visit with an unforgettable view of the Tatra Mountains.
