description
NUANSHAN HAIDIAN is already our second project of a mixed-use building for Nuanshan Developer in Beijing. The building was realized in Haidian, a university area, where it will be mainly useful for the students and residents of northern Beijing. The three over-ground floors devoted to retail function, were complimented with another three office floors. In order to optimize the underground levels, automated parking system was implemented. In our concept, we reached for a material that is rather rarely used nowadays – glazed ceramics. In ancient China, using glazed ceramics for roofs was a very common but also precious practice, which indicated the high status of the building. The glaze, thanks to its durability and color, allows many buildings to preserve their glamour over years. Today, by reaching for this material and technique, we also wish to assign timeless character to the building and protect it from passing trends in commercial architecture. The ground breaking is planned for spring 2019.
